M&S expands footprint in East Midlands, UK
Fosse Park shopping centre in Leicestershire has unveiled plans for the expansion of its M&S anchor store.
British retail giant M&S has announced it will invest in expanding and renewing its store at Fosse Park shopping centre in Leicestershire.
To create a brand-defining store for M&S in the East Midlands, the retailer will be expanding into a vacant unit adjacent to its current premises to offer a broader product range of food, clothing, homewares and beauty products.
The store size will increase by 11,500ft² to a total of more than 100,000ft².
Overseen by owners Crown Estate, Fosse Park is one of the UK’s largest regional shopping parks, with a mix of retail brands, fashion outlets and dining destinations.
The shopping centre has undergone several expansions and renovations over recent years to enhance the shopping experience. Its footfall reached 13.5m in 2023.
M&S is following a rush of lettings at Fosse Park since April 2023. These have included Schuh, New Look, Dreams, Designer Sofas and Natuzzi, and now total 40,000ft².
Fosse Park store manager Andy Frith commented: “This investment – M&S's biggest single renewal investment to date – will mean we can create a brand-defining store here in Leicestershire.”
Work is underway at the site and will finish in autumn 2024. The store will remain open throughout.
M&S recently announced a series of new investments as it aims to achieve net zero by 2040.
