Rochford Realty and Land Innovations partner for new development in US

Land Innovations has entered a strategic partnership with Rochford Realty & Construction for a new housing development in the US state of Alabama.

The $2.2bn project will be built on a 411-acre site at the intersections of Interstates 65 and 565. It is situated between Huntsville and Decatur near Mooresville, reported Advance Local.

The development will feature more than 3,500 residential units and 200,000ft² of commercial space.

The project's vision includes a town centre that promotes walkability and mixed-use spaces, with residential areas integrated into the core design.

Land Innovations president David Horwath stated that the partners intend to spend the next 18 months working on annexation and zoning for the project.

The land is currently in an unincorporated area of Limestone County.

The property, owned by Laurence McCrary, co-owner of 1818 Farms, and his sister, Margaret Anne Crumlish, is being sold to the developers through a land-partnership model.

Laurence McCrary said: “We’ve been a farming family for generations. We love Mooresville and the peacefulness of it, so this isn’t something we’ve sought out, but as the development and growth is coming toward us, we have looked for the best way to protect Mooresville.

“We think a well-thought-out, predominantly residential development is the best way to do it. Not something quick, fast and cheap, and the key was finding like-minded developers.”
