UTSMW receives $100m of funding for paediatric hospital campus in Dallas, Texas
The Pogue family's gift marks a significant contribution to the paediatric campus project.
Children's Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSMW) in Dallas, Texas, has received a landmark $100m donation to help develop a $5bn paediatric hospital campus.
The donation was made by the family of Jean Pogue, who has given more than $200m to UTSMW alongside her late husband Mack over the past 40 years.
It is the largest financial commitment to the paediatric campus project to date, being one of only four philanthropic gifts of its size in North Texas’ public records.
Pogue said: “Our family is proud to play a part in helping build the new Dallas pediatric campus.
“We’re beyond grateful for the difference it will make for future generations of children.”
In recognition of the Pogue family's philanthropy, the 33-acre site of the new campus will be named Pogue Park.
This park will comprise outdoor grounds around the new facilities and will include green spaces.
Investment in the new campus comes as the region's paediatric population is expected to double in size by 2050, highlighting the need for expanded access to top-tier paediatric medical services.
The new Dallas paediatric campus was announced in February this year and will replace the existing Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
To be situated in the Southwestern Medical District and adjacent to UT Southwestern's William P Clements Jr University Hospital, the facility will also serve as a hub for research, academic collaboration, clinical training and the advancement of medical technologies.
Children's Health president and CEO Christopher Durovich said: “For four decades, the Pogue family's generosity has been instrumental in our ability to deliver exceptional care that is helping to shape the future of healthcare.
“Pogue Park will profoundly enhance the patient and family experience in our new Dallas paediatric campus, creating a respite reflective of our mission to make life better for children.”
