Sherla Sriprada, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, highlights the impact of this move on jobs creation:

“Qualcomm has posted nearly 400 jobs in Hyderabad during Q1 2022 (as on 22 March). Also, the company has indicated in its filings that its owned and leased facilities are under construction primarily related to the construction of new facilities in India and Taiwan. The upcoming facility in Hyderabad is expected to create additional jobs.

“Qualcomm is looking for ‘Talent Acquisition Sourcing Specialist’ at Hyderabad/Bangalore. GlobalData expects heightened hiring activity in India in coming days. The company is expanding its business operations in various domains such as smart cities, semiconductors, and telecommunication services.

“Qualcomm has already started accepting applications for engineering and IT openings for such roles across India. February 2022 itself saw listing of three such roles for wireless modem software in 3G/4G/5G, embedded Linux OS/Real time OS as well as creation of new products for silicon test and advanced diagnostic platform on cloud.

“DDRSS design teams in Hyderabad are expected to increase to 20 people as compared to 12 initially. Qualcomm is looking forward to creating a solution based on microarchitecture, with complex module and sub-system test plans. Additionally, the company is also expanding into new areas such as 5G New Radio (NR), Internet of Things (IoT), Vehicular communication(V2X) to stretch beyond mobile space into areas which need prototype software creation for modem power perspectives.”
