Tiger Global Management LLC, Tencent Holdings Ltd, SoftBank Vision Fund II, DST Global, and GIC Pte Ltd are among the top 5 venture capital investors in the retail & wholesale industry in the world in 2021 by deal value.  In terms of the geographic split, 7 out of 10 of the world’s top 10 venture capital investors in the retail & wholesale industry are headquartered in North America, and the remaining 3 are based in Asia. They employed a total of 110,715 people in 2021. JOKR’s Series B financing deal was one of the major VC deals in the retail & wholesale sector in 2021. Latham & Watkins LLP served as legal advisor to Activant Capital Group LLC. JOKR, a Luxembourg-based instant grocery and retail delivery platform provider, has secured $260 million In Series B funding from GGV Capital, Balderton Capital, and Tiger Global Management with participation from Activant Capital, Greycroft, G-Squared, and others. The deal was completed in Q4 2021. Rootbridge Tech’s Series B financing deal was another major VC deal in the retail & wholesale sector in 2021. IndusLaw served as legal advisor to Sequoia Capital India. Rootbridge Tech Pte Lte (ULA), an Indonesian B2B e-commerce marketplace, has secured $87 million in Series B funding co-led by Prosus Ventures, Tencent, and B Capital. Other investors in the round include Bezos Expeditions, Northstar group, AC Ventures, Citius, and others. The deal was completed in Q4 2021.   Gorillas Technologies Series C financing was another major VC deal in the retail & wholesale sector in 2021. Clifford Chance LLP served as legal advisor to Delivery Hero SE. Gorillas Technologies GmbH, a Germany-based company that delivers groceries at retail prices, has secured $950 million in Series C venture funding led by Delivery Hero. The deal was completed in Q3 2021.
