Portland General Electric Co (PGE) is a vertically integrated electric utility that generates, transmits, distributes and retails electricity. The company generates electricity from wholly and jointly owned wind, natural gas, coal and hydroelectric plants. It also participates in the wholesale market through the purchase and sale of electricity and natural gas. It procures power in the wholesale market through short-term and long-term power purchase contracts. PGE owns transmission lines and major transmission rights to the Pacific Northwest Intertie, the West Coast electrical superhighway. It serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers across Oregon. PGE is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, the US.
