AltaGas operates through two reportable segments: Midstream and Utilities. In addition to the reportable segments, it operates through another segment: Corporate and Other. In FY2024, the company’s capital expenditure stood at CAD1,389 million, which was 11.2% of the company’s total revenue and grew 47.3% YoY. Geographically, the company operates through Canada and the US.

Overview
Carries out natural gas gathering and processing; natural gas liquid (NGL) extraction and fractionation, storage and transmission; and sale of natural gas and NGL. Conducts business through three operations, Global Exports, Natural Gas Gathering and Extraction and Fractionation, and Liquid Handling platforms. Operates LPG export terminals and exports Propane and Butane to key Asian markets. Focused on extraction and processing of field gas from the Montney resource play in Northeastern British Columbia. Owns and Operates fractionation facilities under the AltaGas and Petrogas brands. Gas processing projects include Townsend Facility, Gordondale Facility, Blair Creek Facility, Aitken Creek facilities, Harmattan facility, and four NGL extraction plants namely the Edmonton extraction plant, Joffre ethane extraction plant, Pembina Empress Extraction plant, and Younger extraction plant.

Owns and operates franchised, cost-of-service, rate-regulated natural gas distribution and storage utilities to its customers. Conducts operations through Washington Gas Light Co and SEMCO Energy Inc. Operates in four US states including Maryland, Virginia, Michigan Southern Michigan and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula; and the District of Columbia. It also operates WGL Energy Services and other storage facilities and contracts for interstate natural gas transportation and storage services.
