Dr. Christopher U.Missling has been the President, Chief Executive Officer, Secretary and Director of Anavex since 2013. Prior to this, Dr. Missling served as the Head of healthcare investment banking at Brimberg & Co. from 2007 to 2013. Mr. Missling also served as the Chief Financial Officer at ImmunoGen, Inc and Curis, Inc.

Mr. Edward R Hammond has been Chief Medical Officer of the company since January 2022.

Mr. Walter E Kaufmann has been Chief Scientific Officer of the company since January 2022. Prior to this, he served as Chief Medical Officer of the company. Previously, he served as the Director of the Center for Translational Research at the Greenwood Genetic Center, and also held the Ravenel Boykin Curry Chair in Genetic Therapeutics. Dr. Kaufmann served as a Simons Investigator at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Simons Center for the Social Brain. Previously, he served as the Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and a Professor of Pathology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Radiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He served as the founder and Leader of RettSearch, the international consortium of Rett syndrome clinical researchers.

Mr. Stephan Toutain has been the Senior Vice President of Operations of the company since 2018. Prior to this, Mr. Toutain served as the Global Commercial Development for Sarepta Therapeutics; and General Manager for Alexion Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Toutain has also held various positions with Celgene Corporation, and Johnson & Johnson.
