Chubu Electric Power Co Inc (Chubu) is a power generation company which also offers electric network-related services. It generates power through multiple sources including hydroelectric, coal, oil, nuclear, wind, solar, and biomass. The company also offers comprehensive energy services in gas and power fields. Chubu operates its business into three segments: Miraiz, Power Grid and JERA. In FY2023, the company incurred a capital expenditure of JPY249,044 million which grew 7.3% YoY.

Chubu focuses on developing technologies which allows it to provide a stable supply of power. In addition to this, the company conducts flexible and strategic technological research and development, which can respond to changes in the business environment. It actively promotes this by engaging through a long-term and comprehensive perspective, which allows it to utilize the developed technologies into its business operations. Chubu current research includes technology for offshore wind power generation, use of ammonia and hydrogen for decarbonization, energy management services, among others. In FY2023, the company spent JPY8,771 million on research and development, which as a percentage of the company’s revenue accounted for 0.3% of its total revenue.
