Business Description

Dangote Industries Ltd (Dangote) is a diversified, fully integrated conglomerate with operations in Nigeria and across Africa. The company operates in multiple sectors, including cement, sugar, salt, condiments, packaging, energy, port operations, fertiliser, and petrochemicals, with a primary focus on providing locally produced, value-added products and services that meet the basic needs of the population through large-scale manufacturing facilities. Dangote’s business portfolio includes cement manufacturing, petroleum refining, sugar refining, packaging, rice farming, salt and seasonings, infrastructure, automotive, fertiliser, and real estate. In cement, the company operates in more than 10 African countries, making it Africa’s leading cement producer. It also owns the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, a 650,000-barrels-per-day integrated refinery located in the Lekki Free Zone, Nigeria, which is the largest oil refinery in Africa. Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc is a prominent name in Nigeria’s sugar refining sector, while Dangote Packaging Ltd produces woven and laminated polypropylene sacks. Dangote Rice Limited focuses on making Nigeria self-sufficient in rice production, and NASCON is a leading player in Nigeria’s salt industry. The group is involved in infrastructure development through projects such as the Obajana–Kabba road, described as Nigeria’s longest concrete road project, and it has a joint venture with Sinotruk and Andaz to assemble trucks and cars in Nigeria. Dangote also operates the Dangote Fertilizer Plant, Africa’s largest granulated urea fertilizer complex, and provides real estate services through MHF, which specializes in luxury properties in Lagos. In addition, the company undertakes coal mining to generate power for cement production, offers logistics services to address distribution challenges, and runs the Dangote Academy to support corporate leadership development and technical training.
