DEC has undertaken several R&D initiatives, focusing on independent innovation, synergistic and open innovation, and optimizing the science and technology innovation system. The company has made progress in major scientific research tasks, achieving breakthroughs in key core technology research, such as the successful ignition of the first domestic 15 megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine and the completion of the world’s largest 26 megawatt offshore wind turbine. The R&D unit of DEC includes the Japan Energy Research Institute, which plays a role in promoting the standardized operation of the National Key Laboratory for Clean and Efficient Turbine Power Equipment and the National Energy Small and Medium Gas Turbine Industry Chain Key Technology and Equipment Research and Development Center. DEC has established multiple R&D centers and holds 4,053 valid patents, including 1,777 invention patents. The company has formed technology alliances to enhance its research capabilities.
