R&D Overview

El.En. significantly advanced its research and development (R&D) initiatives, focusing on expanding and refining its laser systems for both medical and industrial applications. The company's PRO line includes Motus PRO, Tetra PRO, SmartXide PRO, and TORO platforms. These innovations build on the previously introduced Again PRO, RedTouch PRO, and Onda PRO, showcasing major advancements in energy-based devices for hair removal, facial rejuvenation, and treatment of pigmented lesions and tattoos. Motus PRO, featuring peak pulse powers of up to 20 kW, represents a leap in photo-epilation technology. It combines Nd:YAG and Alexandrite lasers to enhance the treatment of fine and light hairs and now offers a comprehensive facial treatment in a single session. Tetra PRO 40W, an evolution of SmartXide Tetra 30W, boasts increased power and a refreshed design, while SmartXide PRO enhances its predecessor Smartxide DOT with a new articulated arm and scanner options. TORO, another key innovation, integrates Nd:YAG lasers in a Q-switching regime with advanced picosecond pulse generation. This platform targets a range of dermatological conditions, including pigmented lesions and photo-rejuvenation, with a focus on safety and effectiveness, particularly for Asian skin types. Further advancements include the Red Touch system, undergoing clinical trials in the US for FDA clearance, and the FDA-approved Helix system, combining CO2 and 1570 nm laser technologies. In body shaping, the PhysiQ 360 received FDA certification, introducing innovative laser technology for fat treatment. The LIPO AI system now features advanced AI algorithms for enhanced laser-lipolysis procedures. In surgical applications, new CO2 laser accessories and the Multipulse Pro Duo were developed, with ongoing research into blue 445 nm lasers for minor surgery and ENT procedures. Quanta System’s new Thulium Fiber laser systems, Fiber Dust and Fiber Dust PRO, and a new Holmium laser product for urology, demonstrate ongoing product enhancement. El.En. continued refining its industrial laser systems, including the Self-Refilling CO2 sources for die-cutting and high-power Sealed-Off CO2 lasers for broader applications. Advancements in galvanometric scanning systems and custom solutions for metal cutting and restoration further highlight El.En.'s commitment to meet evolving market demands. Cutlite Penta made developments in metal cutting technology, including the EVO3 cutting heads and gas mixing systems, while Ot-las expanded its marking systems with high-power CO2 sources and new scanning optics. Innovations in footwear and large-dimension laser machining highlight El.En.'s focus on versatile, high-performance solutions. Lasit improved its systems' integration and ergonomics, including vision systems for accurate focusing and expanding its offerings in laser cleaning and welding. As of December 2024, the company operated eight R&D centers and owns over 320 patents. In FY2024, the company's R&D expenses stood at EUR21.3 million, which as a percentage of its revenue stood at 3.8% and grew 3.4% YoY.
