Elia Group SA (Elia), formerly Elia System Operator SA, is a transmission system operator that owns and operates high-voltage electricity transmission systems in Belgium and Germany. The company is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of transmission infrastructure and for ensuring the secure and reliable operation of the electricity system. Elia facilitates cross-border electricity exchanges through interconnectors with neighboring countries and performs system operation and market facilitation functions, including balancing and congestion management, within its control areas. In addition to its regulated transmission activities, the group provides consultancy and engineering services through Elia Grid International and develops non-regulated activities related to offshore transmission and energy system services through platforms such as re.alto and WindGrid. Elia Group is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
