GSPC is a state-owned energy company engaged in exploration and production, gas transmission, city gas distribution, and power generation. It also has operations across the midstream and downstream segments, including gas-based power generation. Promoted by a state government in India, GSPC operates across the hydrocarbon value chain, with gas trading volumes of 12.49 MMSCMD and wind power generation capacity of 123.9 MW, serving a range of industries that rely on gas and electricity.

GSPC,through its R&D arm the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI) has carried out a range of R&D initiatives. These include preparing a roadmap for offshore wind development in Gujarat, undertaking feasibility studies on electrifying heavy-duty vehicles in the dairy sector, and successfully demonstrating the solarization of the Modhera Sun Temple and town. GERMI also provides consultancy for the establishment of compressed biogas plants, conducts R&D on bioremediation of petroleum-contaminated sites, and is developing technologies for CO2 sequestration. In addition, it is working on cellulose-based supercapacitors and batteries and has set up a Green Hydrogen Generation Plant—one of India’s pioneering projects in this area.
