Mr. Mutsuo Iwai has been the Chairman of the company since 2020. Previously, he served as the Deputy Chairman of the company. Prior to this, he held various senior management positions at the company such as Executive Vice President, President of Tobacco Business, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, and Executive Vice President of JT International S.A. Mr. Iwai also served as the Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and Assistant to Chief Executive Officer in Food Business, Executive Vice President, President of Food Business, Senior Vice President and Vice President of Food Business Division, Food Business of the company. Earlier, he served as the Vice President of Corporate Strategy Division and Vice President of Corporate Planning Division of the company. He joined the company in 1983.

Mr. Masamichi Terabatake has been the President, Chief Executive Officer, and a Director of the company since 2018. Prior to this, he held several positions in the company including the Director and Executive Vice President of JT International S.A in 2013; Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President from 2011 to 2012. He also served as the Vice President of Corporate Strategy Division from 2008 to 2011; and Vice President and Secretary from 2005 to 2008. He joined the company in 1989.

Mr. Shigeaki Okamoto has been the Deputy Chairman of the company since 2022. Previously, he served as the Administrative Vice Minister at Ministry of Finance from 2018 to 2020. Prior to this, he held several senior positions at Ministry of Finance including Director of General of the Budget Bureau from 2017 to 2018, Deputy Vice Minister from 2015 to 2017, Deputy Director-General of the Budget Bureau from 2012 to 2015. Mr. Okamoto also served as the Head of Secretariat Division, Minister’s Secretariat, Director for the Budget Bureau, Planning and Administration Division of Budget Bureau, Director of Research Division, Budget Bureau, Ministry of Finance. He also served as a Director for Supervisory and Financial Risk Stabilization Management, General Coordination Division, Supervisory Bureau and Head of Management Office, General Coordination Division, Planning and Coordination Bureau, Financial Services Agency.
