Business Description
MannKind Corp (MannKind) focuses on the research, development and commercialization of therapeutic products for pulmonary arterial hypertension and diabetic patients. Its flagship product, Afrezza inhaled insulin is used to control glycemic in adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The product comprises of a dry powder formulation delivered from a small portable inhaler that regulates at beginning of meal and dissolves upon inhalation into lungs and supply insulin to bloodstream. MannKind offers Afrezza product to primary care physicians and endocrinologists through its specialty sales force.

R&D Overview
MannKind has undertaken several R&D initiatives, including the development of Tyvaso DPI (treprostinil) inhalation powder for the treatment of PAH and PH-ILD. The company's lead program is MNKD-101, a nebulized formulation of clofazimine, for the treatment of severe chronic and recurrent pulmonary infections, including nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease. MannKind Corp also plans to initiate a Phase III registrational study of MNKD-101 in the US. Additionally, the company is developing MNKD-201, a dry-powder formulation of nintedanib, for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). In FY2025, the company incurred research and development expense of US$66.3 million, which as a percentage of revenue stood at 18.9% and grew 44.5% YoY.
