Dr. Jeff Himawan is the Chairman of the company. He also serves as a Managing Director for Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, L.P since 2001. He was the Co-founder and Managing Director for Seed-One Ventures, LLC. Before joining, Seed-One Ventures, he served as the Director for Horizon Therapeutics Plc since 2007. From 2002 to 2007, he also served as a Board member of Iomai Corporation.

Dr. Yuichi Iwaki has been the President, the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of MediciNova since 2006. He is also the Founder of the company. He has been a Director of the Transplantation Immunology and Immunogenetic Laboratory at the University of Southern California since 1992. Prior to joining the university, he held professorships in the Departments of Surgery and Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine from 1989 till 1991.

Dr. Kazuko Matsuda has been the Chief Medical Officer and Director of the company since 2011. Previously, she served as the company's Vice President, Clinical Development from April 2010 to September 2011. She also served as the Assistant Professor at Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California (USC) from August 2005 to July 2008. Prior to this, she served as a Clinical Fellow at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Mr. Jason J. Krugerhas been the Chief Financial Officer since 2022. Previously he served as the President and Founder of Signature Analytics since 2008. Prior to this, he served as Senior Manager for Deloitte & Touche LLP from 2003 to 2008. Mr. Krugar has been the Senior Accountant for Moss Adams LLP since 1999.

Mr. David H. Crean has been the Chief Business Officer since 2021. Prior to this, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Coast BioVentures LLC, and managing partner with Cardiff Advisory LLC. Previously he worked as Managing Director for Objective Capital Partners, LLC.
