Orkuveita Reykjavikur (Orkuveita) is a public utility company that process and provides electricity, hot water and steam. Its operations also include heat supply, electricity distribution, water supply, managing sewage and optical fiber systems.

Orkuveita is involved in research and development initiatives focused on CO2 injection using geothermal water. The DemoUpCarma project, which ran from the fall of 2023 to the end of 2024, aimed to assess the feasibility of transporting CO2 from Switzerland to Iceland for underground injection, considering costs and environmental impacts. Approximately 140 tons of pure CO2 captured from biogas in Switzerland was transported and injected in Iceland. The company is also working on geothermal water injection projects in Hellisheidi and Nesjavellir, connecting high-temperature wells to the Hellisheidi power plant's injection supply and locating a new deep injection well in the Orka natturunnar production areas.
