Polenergia is undertaking an R&D initiative called H2 HUB Nowa Sarzyna: Green Hydrogen Storage, which focuses on using green hydrogen produced by electrolysis of water powered by renewable energy to produce renewable aviation fuel. This project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the aviation industry without the need for new infrastructure, fuel bases, or aircraft designs. The project is being implemented in three stages, with evaluations after each stage to decide on proceeding further. The National Centre for Research and Development is subsidizing the project with a grant of up to PLN 95 million. The R&D unit of Polenergia is part of a consortium that includes Elektrocieplownia Nowa Sarzyna and Wroclaw University of Technology.
