Prima Meat Packers conducts research and development in the field of meat and meat processing. The Basic Research Institute of Prima Meat Packers advances the company’s four philosophy- delicious, safe and secure, healthy, and environmental: by conducting applied and fundamental research in meat and meat processing and by providing technical support across development, production, sales, and quality assurance. Focusing on four pillars, the Institute combines sensory evaluation with analytical technologies to scientifically assess and enhance deliciousness for product development and quality improvement; develops methods to control foodborne and spoilage microorganisms to ensure product safety; investigates the health functionality of meat and creates health-conscious products while working to reduce or eliminate additives; and pursues environmental R&D to lower food waste, move toward carbon neutrality, and leverage microorganisms for environmental protection. Through these activities, the Institute both supports the Prima Meat Packers Group and undertakes research that contributes to broader societal well-being. In FY2025, the company incurred an expense of JPY365 million, which as a percentage of revenue stood at 0.2%.
