Kimia Farma is advancing a range of research and development (R&D) programs, with a strong emphasis on accelerating innovation to shorten time-to-market for new products. The company is prioritizing the development of new medicines and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) that are first-of-their-kind in Indonesia. These include the country’s first me-too Fentanyl Injection, locally produced Morphine syrup and tablets, and locally manufactured APIs such as Risperidone, Sitagliptin, and TLE. Kimia Farma has also introduced a new TB treatment option—Dovprela (Pretomanid) tablets—positioned as the first product of its kind in the market. In parallel, the company is developing 15 local API molecules for finished pharmaceutical products, each targeting a local content level of more than 60%. These efforts are supported by dedicated R&D units, including Biotechnology R&D and R&D for Natural Sciences and Other Engineering Technologies, which oversee and coordinate innovation initiatives aimed at delivering advanced therapy medicinal products that meet public health needs. In FY2025, the company spent IDR14,540.83 million on R&D, which, as a percentage of revenue, stood at 0.2% and declined 41.9% YoY.
