Shikoku Electric Power Co Inc (Yonden) provides a wide range of valuable services in the electric power business. It includes fuel procurement to power generation, transmission, distribution and energy services. The company also focuses on telecommunications business and international business. Based on the characteristics of the different fuel types, the company undertakes the reliable and cost-effective procurement of coal, LNG, and oil for thermal power production as well as uranium for nuclear power generation. The company is also engaged in renewable energy: solar, hydro, and wind power. Yonden operates its business through five segments: Electricity business power, Information and communications business, Construction/engineering business, energy business and others. It reported capital expenditures of JPY75,079 million in FY2023, which grew 27.9% YoY.

Yonden’s R&D focuses on supply and use of electricity and improve its technologies and competitiveness. It focuses on extending the lifespan of equipment, technologies for utilizing coal ash and technologies for increasing the functionality and efficiency of operation maintenance by introducing renewable energy and utilizing consumer devices such as storage batteries. In FY2023, the company spent JPY4,151 million on R&D activity, which stood at 0.5% of its revenue and grew at 1.2% YoY.
