Sibur has been actively pursuing innovation and R&D to maintain its competitive edge and achieve technological independence. The strategic areas of focus include the development of new types of polymers, creation of new catalysts and special components, and enhancement of infrastructure. The company aims to achieve self-sufficiency in producing its own catalysts by 2030 through joint R&D and technology development projects with Russian partners. In FY2024, Sibur inaugurated Russia’s first and world-unique Technology Piloting Center at the Tobolsk production cluster, which is expected to significantly accelerate the development of proprietary catalysts and new grades of base polymers. Moreover, the company had over 998 patents and over 10 research and development centers. In FY2024, the company spent RUB9,000 million on R&D, which stood at 0.8% of company’s revenue.
