Mr. Julio Quintana has been the Chairman of the company since May 2023. Previously, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Corporation. Mr. Quintana currently served on the Board of Directors of Newmont Mining Company and of California Resources Corporation.

Mr. Herbert S. Vogel has been the President of the Chief Executive Officer of the company since November 2020. Prior to this, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company since June 2019 and Executive Vice President—Operations of the Company since August 2014. He joined the Company in March 2012 as Senior Vice President—Portfolio Development and Technical Services. Before joining SM energy, he most recently served as the President at BP Energy Co. and Regional Business Unit Leader at North American Gas & Power. Mr. Vogel started his career as a Reservoir Engineer at ARCO Alaska, and progressed through a series of positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, operations management, new ventures development, and business unit management in ARCO and BP. He has over 36 years of experience in the oil and gas business.

Mr. A. Wade Pursell has been the Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Vice President of the company since 2008. Prior to this, he served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. from 2000 to 2007. Mr. Pursell also served as a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Helix. He joined Helix in 1997 as a Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer of Helix. Mr. Pursell served in Andersen LLP as manager specialized in the offshore industry from 1988 to 1997.

Mr. Pat Lytle has been the Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller since April 2021. Prior to this, he served as the Senior Director, Financial Planning & Analysis and Assistant Secretary of the company. Mr. Lytle was the Director of Financial Planning and Financial Reporting. He also served as an Audit Manager at Hiratsuka & Schmitt, LLP.

Mr. Dean Lutey has been the Chief Information Officer of the company since April 2021. He also serves as the company's Vice President - Information Technology since 2013. Prior to this, he was Director of Information Technology in 2009. Mr. Lutey joined SM Energy in 2008 as Manager of Production Services. Preceding this, he served as Manager of IT Service Delivery at Chesapeake Energy Corporation from September 2007 until June 2008. Mr.Lutey was the Director of Technical Information Systems for ConocoPhillips Canada from April 2006 to September 2007. He started his career in 1995 from Burlington Resources, where he held multiple positions in both the United States and Canada.
