Smiths Group Plc (Smiths Group) manufactures, develops, markets, and supports products and services for communications, energy, threat and contraband detection, medical devices, and engineered components industries. The company offers its products to government agencies, petrochemical companies, hospitals, other equipment manufacturers, domestic appliance manufacturers, and service providers. It carries out operations through its wholly-owned subsidiaries and holding companies. Smiths Group operates through four reportable business segments: John Crane, Smiths Detection, Smiths Interconnect and Flex-Tek. In FY2023, the company's capital expenditure stood at GBP81 million and declined 8% YoY. As of FY2023, the company had operations in more than 50 countries.
R&D Overview
The company's research and development (R&D) activities focus on developing products that lead to reduced environmental impact, energy efficiency, condition monitoring and control, and provide engineered solutions; and continued to narrow the number of pipeline projects to ensure adequate investment in the products that have the highest impact.
