Mr. David Bruton Smith has been the Chairman since 2022 and Chief Executive Officer of the company since September 2018. Prior to this, he served as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Strategic Officer from March 2018 to September 2018; Vice Chairman from March 2013 to March 2018; and Executive Vice President from October 2008 to March 2013 of the company. Mr. Bruton has also served as Executive Vice President; Senior Vice President of Corporate Development; Vice President of Corporate Strategy of the company; and as Dealer Operator and General Manager of several Sonic dealerships.

Mr Jeff Dyke has been the President and Director of the company since 2019. Prior to this, he served as Executive Vice President of Operations from October 2008 to September 2018; as Chief Operating Officer – Southeast Division from March 2007 to October 2008; and as Vice President - Eastern Division from April 2006 to March 2007; and as Vice President of Retail Strategy from October 2005 to April 2006 of the company. Mr. Dyke has also served in various positions at AutoNation, Inc from 1996 to 2005.

Mr. Heath R. Byrd has been the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of the company since 2013. Previously, he served as the Chief Information Officer and Vice President of the company from 2007 to 2013. Mr. Byrd has also, served in several management positions at HR America, Inc and as Manager in the Management Consulting Division of Ernst & Young LLP.

Mr. Harry Hayden has been the Chief Human Resource Officer of the company since 2024. Prior to this, he served as Vice President of Human Resources for RFJ Auto Partners and as Vice President of Human Resources for the company. Mr. Hayden has also served with Dyersburg Corp and WestPoint Stevens Inc.
