Verbundnetz Gas AG (VNG), a subsidiary of EnBW Energie Baden-Wurttemberg AG, is a natural gas company that operates across the entire natural gas value chain. It principally explores and produces natural gas, and carries out trading and service, transportation and storage of natural gas. The company has operations in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy. VNG conducts its operations through four business divisions: Trading & Sales, Transport, Storage and Biogas.

R&D Overview
VNG is actively engaged in various research and development initiatives focused on decarbonised gases across the entire value chain. Key projects include the Bad Lauchstadt Energy Park, which implements the entire value chain for green hydrogen on an industrial scale, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. VNG is also involved in the TransHyDE hydrogen transportation project and has concluded the BioHydroGen project for hydrogen production from biogas. The CapTransCO2 project, aimed at establishing a CO2 transportation infrastructure, was completed, investigating the feasibility of a climate-neutral industrial sector in Central Germany. It has participated in studies such as the Hydrogen Network Central Germany 2.0 and Ensuring Resilience in the European Energy Transition. The company is a member of the HYPOS network and is developing projects for the market ramp-up of renewable and decarbonised gases, including the GreenRoot, GreenHyBB, H2GE Rostock, and AZAN projects.
