Goldman Sachs and Ernst & Young top M&A financial advisers by value, volume in power sector in H1 2023, reveals GlobalData

Goldman Sachs and Ernst & Young were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the power sector during the first half (H1) of 2023 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company has revealed that Goldman Sachs achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $10.7 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Ernst & Young led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 13 deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Goldman Sachs was the only adviser that managed to surpass the $10 billion mark in total deal value during H1 2023. Meanwhile, Ernst & Young was among the only two advisers with double-digit deal volume in H1 2023.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Bank of America occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on close to $10 billion worth of deals, followed by Citi with $9.1 billion, Barclays with $9 billion, and Lazard with $8.2 billion.

Meanwhile, PwC occupied the second position in terms of volume with 10 deals, followed by Rothschild & Co with nine deals, Citi with seven deals, and Barclays with seven deals.
