Goldman Sachs and Houlihan Lokey top M&A financial advisers by value, volume in North America during Q1-Q3 2023

Goldman Sachs and Houlihan Lokey were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the North American region during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2023 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest Financial Advisers League Table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company has revealed that Goldman Sachs achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $209.2 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Houlihan Lokey led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 113 deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Goldman Sachs and Houlihan Lokey were the clear winners during Q1-Q3 2023 by value and volume, respectively. While Goldman Sachs was the only adviser to surpass $200 billion in total deal value during Q1-Q3 2023, Houlihan Lokey was the adviser with triple-digit deal volume.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Morgan Stanley occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $174 billion worth of deals, followed by Bank of America with $172.5 billion, JP Morgan with $159.5 billion, and Centerview Partners with $134.9 billion.

Meanwhile, JP Morgan occupied the second position in terms of volume with 83 deals, followed by Goldman Sachs with 82 deals, Evercore with 66 deals, and Piper Sandler with 66 deals.
