China renal denervation catheters market to grow at 9% CAGR through 2033, forecasts GlobalData

The prevalence of hypertension has been rising continuously in China, making it a significant health concern. To address this challenge, treatments such as renal denervation systems are emerging as potential solutions, particularly for patients with resistant hypertension. Against this background, the renal denervation catheters market in China is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 9% between 2024 and 2033, forecasts GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

GlobalData’s latest report, “Renal Denervation Catheters Market Size by Segments, Share, Regulatory, Reimbursement, Procedures and Forecast to 2033,” reveals that China’s renal denervation catheter market is expected to reach around $2 million in 2033.

Nandini Nagpal, Medical Devices Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Renal denervation offers an innovative solution for patients unable to manage their blood pressure with medication. This minimally invasive procedure not only effectively controls hypertension but also reduces the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. With its long-term benefits and favorable safety profile, Renal denervation represents a significant advancement in hypertension treatment.”

Medtronic Plc has recently announced the approval of its Symplicity Spyral renal denervation system by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China. It is the first renal denervation system in China to receive NMPA approval. This innovative and minimally invasive procedure utilizes radiofrequency to reduce the blood pressure.

Nagpal concludes: “China is poised to address the significant public health challenge of hypertension using its evolving health policies and initiatives such as the Healthy China Initiative (2019-2030). The introduction of innovative technologies, such as renal denervation systems, broadens the range of advanced solutions for hypertension management. These initiatives strive to lower hypertension prevalence and enhance the overall cardiovascular health of the population.”
