Honda Cars India breaks ground on new spare parts warehouse in Karnataka
Honda Cars India has broken ground on its new spare parts warehouse in Doddaballapura, near Bengaluru in the Indian state of Karnataka.
This facility is set to bolster the spare parts operations for all Honda businesses in the country, including Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Honda Cars India, and Honda India Power Products.
Construction of the new facility is being undertaken by Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company (SMCC), which is known for its expertise in developing industrial infrastructure.
The warehouse is expected to be operational by the first quarter (Q1) of financial year 2025-26 (FY25-26).
Honda Cars India president and CEO Takuya Tsumura said: “We are delighted to start the development of our new spare parts warehouse facility in Bengaluru. This is in line with our commitment towards our customers for providing timely and quicker availability of spare parts for their Honda products.
“This new facility will not only enhance our spare parts accessibility in the southern region of the country but also pave the way for future requirements in the electrification era.”
The total plot area for the facility spans 140,000m².
The initial phase of the project will see the development of a 60,000m² plot area, with a 25,000m² covered space.
The warehouse will play an important role in the faster availability of spare parts at dealerships and enhance the overall customer service experience.
The design of the facility prioritises ergonomic excellence to optimise efficiency and productivity while adhering to high safety standards.
Additionally, the warehouse will incorporate several eco-friendly features.
These include rainwater harvesting, a drinking water treatment plant, and a sewage treatment plant, as well as leveraging natural lighting, green electricity sources, and natural air circulation.
It will be located in proximity to Bengaluru International Airport, the Bengaluru City Region, and the Honda 2Wheelers manufacturing plant.
