Sabert launches compostable protein and produce trays
This line of certified commercially compostable trays offers foodservice operators a sustainable alternative to traditional foam trays.
Sabert Corporation, a manufacturer of food packaging solutions, has introduced a new line of compostable trays designed for proteins and produce.
This line of certified commercially compostable trays offers foodservice operators a sustainable alternative to traditional foam trays, aligning with the increasing demand for eco-friendly products.
The Pulp 2S Produce Tray is engineered to cater to the hybrid cooking trend, blending meal planning, meal kits, and ready-to-eat items.
It is suitable for both full and cut vegetables, fruits, and fresh meal ingredients, and can remain refrigerator safe for up to seven days as it is engineered with Sabert's Pulp Plus molded fiber blend.
For proteins, the Pulp 3P Protein Tray accommodates a variety of items such as chicken, beef, steak, seafood, and plant-based alternatives. It features Sabert's proprietary Pulp Ultra coated formulation, providing exceptional moisture protection and ensuring that oil-heavy food items remain fresh for up to 30 days.
Both the Pulp 2S Produce and 3P Protein Trays are touted for their sustainability, superior performance, versatility, durability, and merchandising benefits.
They are made from a compostable, PFAS-Free pulp that is bio-based and derived from renewable resources, supporting a circular solution with sustainable end-of-life disposal.
The Pulp 3P Protein Tray's Pulp Ultra formulation delivers ultimate grease and moisture resistance, crucial for maintaining the integrity of foods with natural fats and oils.
It is specifically formulated to accommodate the needs of both whole and sliced fruits and vegetables.
These trays are designed with a strong and durable construction to withstand heavier food applications.
They can be overwrapped or film-sealed, allowing for easy integration into current supermarket operations.
Additionally, the natural substrate of the trays enhances the visual appeal of food by complementing vibrant colours, showcasing a commitment to sustainable practices.
Sabert vice president for marketing and new product development Stephny Halstead said: “Our new Pulp Produce and Protein Trays are the perfect example of Sabert’s mission-driven purpose of reinventing food packaging to nourish and protect our world.
“The trays combine sustainability, versatility and durability, helping retailers and operators meet the growing demand for environmentally responsible solutions that still deliver food protection, preservation and presentation.”
