The performance highlights of the Top 25 publicly traded global consumer packaged goods companies by Market Cap (Mcap) have been analysed in the latest research from GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company. The completed day vs day (31 Mar 2018 vs 31 Dec 2017) analysis reveals a number of interesting insights.

The list of the top 10 global consumer packaged goods companies remained mostly unchanged, with only one new entrant in Q1 2018 over the previous year. Nestlé retained its top position, whereas Anheuser-Busch InBev toppled Procter & Gamble to grab second position in the list despite there being no change in its Mcap. Diageo outpaced Kraft Heinz to enter the top 10.

With 80% of the Top 25 companies reporting a decline in their Mcap, the overall list suffered an 8% downfall in aggregate Mcap, with Wuliangye Yibin, Kraft Heinz, and Associated British Foods all seeing major falls.

Estée Lauder is the only firm to have exceeded a 10% growth in Mcap, while Constellation Brands, Kao and Brown-Forman achieved a modest growth of below 5%. The three new entrants in the top 25 list in Q1 2018 were Tyson Foods, Brown-Forman, and Associated British Foods.

North America held the top position in terms of geographic concentration, followed by Europe, Asia Pacific, and South and Central America. Asia Pacific suffered the largest fall, with an 18% drop in its Mcap in Q1 2018 whereas North America witnessed the least decline of 8%.
