Ashok Leyland has undertaken several R&D initiatives focusing on the development of engines for alternate fuels, components for electric powertrains, and ADAS. The company has initiated in-house software control system development and worked on alternate fuel variants in the AVTR platform. Additionally, Ashok Leyland is developing hydrogen-based vehicles, both ICE and fuel cell, for technology demonstration and creating new platforms to meet current market demands.
