Avista Corp (Avista) is an electric and natural gas utility. It produces, transmits and distributes electricity; and supplies natural gas on a retail and wholesale basis. The company generates electricity using wind, diesel, hydro, wood waste, natural gas and coal sources. Under long-term and short-term contracts, Avista owns and purchases capacity, energy, and fuel for generation; and sells electric capacity energy, and fuel in wholesale markets. It procures natural gas from the wholesale market; and holds interests in venture fund investments, real estate investments and other investments. The company serves residential, commercial, industrial, city, state, and federal governmental customers in the US. Avista is headquartered in Spokane, Washington, the US.
