R&D Overview
Dow’s R&D team is customer centric and helps provide customers with innovative products by developing hybrid products and creating solutions by collaborating with external partners. Overview
Consists of two global businesses, industrial solutions and polyurethanes & construction chemicals. Develops intermediate chemicals that are used in manufacturing process; customized materials and formulations. Industrial solutions division provides products for specialty applications associated with a variety of end markets such as coatings, agriculture crops, detergents and cleaners, solvents for electronic processing, inks and textiles. Polyurethanes & construction chemicals division consists of three businesses, polyurethanes, construction chemicals and chlor-alkali & vinyl. Polyurethanes business produces propylene oxide, polyether polyols, propylene glycol and aromatic isocyanates that serve consumer comfort, mobility markets and others. Construction chemicals business provides cellulose ethers, acrylic emulsions and redispersible latex powders used in construction materials. Chlor-Alkali & Vinyl (CAV) business provides chlorine, caustic soda, ethylene dichloride and vinyl chloride monomer. In FY2022, the segment's capital expenditure stood at US$385 million, which grew 7.2% YoY.

Consists of two global businesses, hydrocarbons & energy and packaging and specialty plastics. Delivers durable plastics for the customers in food and specialty packaging, industrial and consumer packaging, and health and hygiene. The packaging and specialty plastics division produces polyethylene, polyolefin elastomers, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EDPM), ethylene vinyl acetate and others. Performance silicones business uses silicon based technology to provide ingredients and solutions to customers in high performance building, consumer goods and pressure sensitive adhesives. The home & personal care business provides solutions, acrylics and cellulosics technology platforms for cleaning, laundry, hair, skin care applications and others. Silicone feedstocks & intermediates business provides silicone materials that are used as intermediates in wide range of applications. In FY2022, the segment's capital expenditure stood at US$369 million, which grew 10.5% YoY.
