R&D Overview
Aptose's R&D arm focuses on the research and development of its lead clinical-stage compound, tuspetinib (TUS), an oral kinase inhibitor. This compound has shown activity as a monotherapy and in combination therapy for patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and is being developed as a frontline triplet therapy for newly diagnosed AML. The company is conducting a clinical trial named TUSCANY to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of tuspetinib in patients with relapsed or refractory AML, myelodysplastic syndromes with increased blasts grade 2 (MDS-IB2), or chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). Aptose owns rights to 59 issued patents, including 4 issued US patents and 23 patents validated in European countries, covering the tuspetinib compound or analog compounds.
